Meet Our Pastor
Dr. Rick C. Dye
Dr. Rick C. Dye is the Senior Minister of the Murray First United Methodist Church. Rick was born in Ava, Missouri and has been serving churches in the Memphis Annual Conference since1979. His pastorates include Pleasant Grove in Marshall County, The Interfaith Student Center in Martin, TN, Lone Oak United Methodist Church and two years as the Associate Minister at Murray First, from 1985-87. He comes to Murray First UMC after serving five years as the Paducah District Superintendent.
A graduate of Murray State University, Vanderbilt Divinity School and Asbury Theological Seminary, Rick places a high value on education and learning processes. He enjoys preaching, Bible study and reaching others for Christ..
Rick is a theological advocate of a rational, progressive understanding of the Christian faith, while valuing our historic foundational theology. He believes our Christian faith and commitment provides the common ground for our fellowship and forms the foundation for our service and mission to the world..
The study of the life and theology of John and Charles Wesley has been a major focus in Rick’s ministry. He believes Wesley’s understanding of the Christian faith offers a unique message that can still resonate with people, when properly interpreted.
Rick is married to Vicki, who works at Newpage Corp. in Wickliffe, KY. Vicki works in the Engineering Department as Property Conservation and Master Data Coordinator. She is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State Univeristy, with degrees in Engineering Design and Computer Science. Vicki enjoys trail riding, gardening and working outside. The Dye’s have two children, Jennifer and Eric and one grandson, Charles Thomas.
